Tim’s Take: Window Tint

Window tint is the best and only way to keep the heat out of your vehicle which further preserves and protects the different materials of the interior. It comes in various percentages which represents the amount of light that it allows through. For instance, 5% tint allows only 5% of the available light through, whereas, 80% would allow 80% of the light through. A lower percentage creates a darker interior and lowers visibility looking into the vehicle from the outside.

In Tim’s opinion, ceramic window tint outshines carbon film’s ability for heat rejection and UV protection without the film having to be as dark.

That being said, if you’re the owner of a classic car that NEEDS to have the interior protected from sun, a lighter, more transparent ceramic film would still outperform a traditional carbon film.

Tim prefers to tint with brands such as Solar Protective Films, Suntek, and Geoshield because of improved workability, adhesive components, and clarity of final install.
